The Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves are the 2008 national midget AAA champions after defeating the Winnepeg Thrashers 6-4 in the 2008 Telus Cup Sunday. The loss in the final game was Winnepeg's first loss in the tournament. In the third place game, the Séminaire St-François Blizzard downed the Calgary Buffaloes 7-4.
The Oakville Blades defeated the Newmarket Hurricanes for the second time in the 2008 Dudley Hewitt Cup to earn the tournament win and a berth in the 2008 RBC Cup. After Newmarket beat the Dryden Ice Dogs 2-1 in overtime in the semi-final game, they found themselves down by four goals early in the final game and couldn't fight back, losing the championship game 6-3. Oakville will be headed to Cornwall for the RBC Cup beginning Saturday.
